Here are ways you can serve onsite at the agency/mission or church!

AGAPE RESOURCE AND ASSISTANCE CENTER
  • Housing
    • Going the Extra Yard – join a yard maintenance team! Be part of a team that wraps it’s heart and service around the families in a particular house and keeps the yard mowed and trimmed so they are proud to live there. All equipment provided, team members rotate so usually serve about 3 times a summer
    • Handy Person – we have a Honey Do list that helps us keep everything operating. If you’re handy, add your name to that list and we will call as needed!
    • No place like home – help freshen up space for new family to move in as a graduate move on. Includes as needed, painting, cleaning, decorating so new family feels loved and special
  • Childcare and Development
    • Work with a group to create “Mom’s Time” so that a designated Saturdays, Care Team loves on kids and moms get much needed time to themselves
    • Care team – work with a team to provide childcare on a rotating basis on Saturdays and perhaps one evening a week so moms can attend counseling appointments. Care would be in Agape offices, 2 caregivers at a time in 1.5-3 hour blocks
  • Education
    • Share your skill – teach something you enjoy at a weekly Life Skills class. Our families enjoy learning new things. Some especially enjoyed topics including:
      • Knitting
      • Cooking special desserts, easy kid friendly meals, or healthy and quick meals
      • Essential oils
      • Essential seam stressing – buttons, hems, tear repairs
  • Wheels 4 Success
    • Moms need help staying mobile. Even the easiest regular maintenance is hard. Help arrange regular maintenance like oil changes, tire rotations, preventative maintenance, car washes, etc.
ALTERNATIVE GIFT MARKET
  • Serve at the AGM as a certificate writer, cashier, with set-up/clean-up, or at one of the mission tables
  • Shop at the AGM in November
BED START
  • Serve on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings
  • Visit crumc.org/bedstart or bedstart.org for volunteer opportunities for pick-up/delivery/shed
FAMILY PROMISE OF COLLIN COUNTY
  • Provide dinner for families during our rotation
  • Support families staying in a hotel or other places
  • Purchase Walmart of gas gif cards from Revelation Raise Right
FOOD DRIVE
  • Donate food at the church
HEAD START
  • Purchase sweatsuits and drop off at church
LITTLE DRESSES
  • Attend sewing sessions
LOCAL SCHOOL MINISTRY
  • Mentor at Christie Elementary and Carpenter Middle School for 30 minutes to 1 hour weekly during the school church. Information sessions scheduled twice a year at the school
  • Serve at the school to set-up, serve, and clean-up for the Back-to-School Breakfasts
  • Serve at the school to help with Staff Appreciation Events
MEALS ON WHEELS
  • Serve as a MOW delivery volunteer
  • Deliver completed Harvest Boxes to the church/assist with box pick-up
OPERACION ABRIGO
  • Trips to Mexico –  Serve on a mission tea to build houses in Ciudad Juarez.
PISD SCHOOL-AGED PARENT PROGRAM
  • Provide food and childcare for SAPP meetings as needed
  • Serve at Christmas and Graduation Celebrations
  • Donate items as needed
  • Donate to annual “baby shower”
PLAIN-O HELPERS
  • Serve on Friday mornings or on other projects as needed.
PLANO OVERNIGHT WARMING STATIONS
  • November 1-March 31 annually
  • Attend information sessions to learn more about POWS
  • Attend mandatory training session
  • Serve at POWS-Salvation Army in Plano as needed
PROJECT TRANSFORMATION
  • Serve as a Reading Buddy
  • Serve dinner to AmeriCorp young adults
SCHOOL SUPPLY COLLECTION
  • Donate school supplies
  • Serve at sorting/assembly of collection items in August
SHARING SHOES AND JOY IN PERU
  • Donate shoes
  • Help sort donations and prepare for shipping at Buckner Humanitarian Aid Center
  • Participate in mission experiences in Peru distributing shoes to children, conducting VBS activities, helping improve families’ homes and living conditions, and grow relationships with Buckner staff
SPRING CREEK VILLAGE
  • Help host classes, gatherings, Bible studies
  • Contribute to donation collections
  • Be a host/guide for SCV families who come to the church
  • Assemble food boxes for distribution at Salvation Army
  • Help distribute donations at SCV, meeting with families, invite families to church
  • Help with special events
  • Lead Bible studies or prayer walk
SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM
  • Serve at the site Monday-Friday during the summer
  • Assemble weekend snack bags
