Participants with early symptoms of Alzheimer’s or dementia have fun with friends so their caregiver can have a much-needed break.
Treasured Times participants enjoy music, exercise, arts and crafts and reminiscing. Activities entertain participants while preserving their skills and improve self-esteem. Each participant is paired with a “Friend” to build meaningful relationships each week. The program is offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am to 1:30pm and follows the Plano Independent School District (PISD) school calendar, including holiday observances. Beverages are provided and participants and volunteers are asked to bring their own lunch. Cost is $10 per week and scholarships are available.
Become a Treasured Times "Friend"
Helping with Treasured Times is much like attending a party every week. The upbeat atmosphere, social interaction and activities make it possible to serve others and have fun at the same time. Each week includes a theme with coordinating decorations and activities.
If you’re looking for a meaningful way to spend your time on Wednesdays or Thursdays from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm, this is the place for you. Training is provided. To join our family of volunteers, please call Carol Gue at 972-922-6315. If you’re curious about the program, please feel free to drop in for a visit. We meet in the Upper Room each week and would love to meet you.
