Serve Opportunities at Custer Road UMC

Serving at Custer Road is one of the simplest and most meaningful ways to live out your faith and make a real difference. Whether you’re greeting guests, mentoring kids or students, supporting worship and tech, or serving behind the scenes, every role helps create a welcoming, grace-filled space where people can experience the love of Jesus.

You don’t have to have it all figured out—just a willing heart and a desire to be part of something bigger. There’s a place for you here, and when you serve, you don’t just help the church run, you help people come to know Jesus and feel seen, known, and loved.

AV Ministry

AV Ministry supports live worship and special ceremonies/events at Custer Road UMC. This includes events that happen in the Sanctuary, Venue and other special opportunities around the 6601 campus.

  • Camera Operator: positions are available both in the Sanctuary and the Venue. This position would involve controlling the camera for framing, picture quality, focus, following participants and the occasional crowd shot. You would work with the Director, who would call for specific shots depending on the moment.
  • Sound Support: This role could be live sound reinforcement for the room you are in, or could be the final mix for the recording / live stream of an event. This includes mixing the microphones from the participants and the musicians to achieve proper reinforcement for the live audience or an overall capture of the event for the recording.
  • Lyrics / Screens / Lower Thirds: This role would involve using ProPresenter on a PC in either the Sanctuary, Venue, or Control Room. It would include showing videos, slides, lyrics, titles, and congregational responses. When used in the live format at venues, you lead the hymns/songs and any congregational responses. When in the Control Room, you are handling video rolls, titles and congregational responses for the recording / live stream viewers.
  • Robotic Controls / Camera Shading: This role is in the control room and is responsible for robotic camera shots (2 in the Sanctuary and 3 in the Venue) and shading the 3 manned cameras in the Sanctuary. They work directly with the Director on the requested camera shots in the moment.
  • Director / Switcher: This person is responsible for the overall capture of the service for recording and live streaming. They call all the shots from the camera operators, call for video rolls and oversee the service documentation from start to finish for any event. All video inputs are controlled by the Ross switcher and can include up to 10-12 inputs per event.
